Mr. Justin Nsimba, Joined the Force Mr Justin Nsimba, foreground in the picture, joined the project in Nov, 2006. Mr. Nsimba is the agricultural extension officer. Mr. Nsimba replaced Miss Eli Makundi who has been transfered to Mahenge.
Study tour at TASEA and TaTEDO
In preparing to start implementing the training activities in drying fruits and vegetable, Promotion Team visited TASEA (Tanzania Solar Energy Association) and TaTEDO (Tanzania Traditional Energy Development Organisation) in Dar es Salaam in the period of 20-21 Nov, 2006. In addition, the team visited SIDO (Small Industries Development Organisation. The team consisted of Bishop Abel Mwambungu, Rev. Wilson Nyakachewa, Mr. Briton Kilangali, Mr. Justin Nsimba, Mr. Moses Chogo and Eng. Matthew Matimbwi. Along joined Mr. Nzogela who drove the team.
In day one morning, the group visited TASEA. The group was welcome by Eng. Finias Magessa, talking in the picture, TASEA-Executive Secretary and two German Volunteers, Miss Karolin Dietrich and Mr. Frederik Bartels. Eng. Magesa narrated the history and major tasks of TASEA as the umbrella organisation in the Renewable Energy activities in Tanzania. One major success mentioned was the waving of VAT and Import tax in renewable energy gadgets.
In the afternoon, the group visited TaTEDO. At TaTEDo the group was welcome by Mr. Samson, Eng. Sanga and Mr. Deus. Mr. Samson told the group that TaTEDO is working to promote the sustainable use of biomass energy, solar energy, wind energy, bio-fuels and training in entrepreneurship. Mr. Deus gave information in details as how the solar drier works and he took the group to visit energy park at Mbezi. It was further learnt that TaTEDO will be promoting the use of bio-mass fuel
in Morogoro Region in the near future, and there will be an opportunity of ELCT-UKD to join. Bishop Mwambungu remarked that it could be better for other instutions from Ulanga and Kilombero to visit TaTEDO and learn about wood fuel saving.
In the day 2, the group visited SIDO and saw different processed agricultural products and packing materials. The group purchased plastic sheet and screen for construction of driers.
